| My recent work focuses on installations within large interior spaces. These works are purposeful constructions within historically rich dwellings or buildings. Through the use of a variety of materials, I join the activity of construction to concept on an intuitive level. Often, constructed elements are introduced into the interiors of these spaces to interweave the historical with the personal. While in the studio, I have also been working on small-scale wall pieces. These three dimensional forms often include fabricated elements and act as reflief paintings. While containing components of larger ideas, these smaller works have become intimate objects with their own context. At times these pieces are inspired by found objects and by the visual landscape of my environment. Through the constant discovery of cast-off and discarded elements, I find inspiration. The idea of integrating the past with the present through meticulous examination and crafting allows me to confront subject matter in a personal way. |
